Chichen Itza - Merida - City Tour
Today, we experience an interesting tour through Chichen Itza, an incredible ancient Maya town. Used as the capital of Yucatan, it had its blooming period between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. We can admire the impressive buildings of the northern and central archaeological sites, such as the Kukulcan Temple, the Ball Game, the Observatory, the Warrior’s Temple, the Covent of the Nuns and the Sacred Cenote. After lunch, we embark on a city tour of Merida, also known as the “White City”, which has Colonial houses as well as houses that date from the beginning of the century in the Arabic, French and Italian styles. Its buildings have witnessed all the old wealth that was generated thanks to the sisal culture. Stop at Merida’s Zocalo, where we can catch a look at the main monuments: The Cathedral, the Government’s Palace, the Municipal Palace and Francisco Montejo’s House.

Uxmal - Merida
Today, we visit Uxmal, one of the largest and important cities of Mayan culture. Its ceremonial sites are considered as one of the most outstanding examples of Terminal Classic architecture anywhere. The city flourished during the late classic period (600-900 AD) and counted around 20,000 - 25,000 Maya as inhabitants. Uxmal is decorated with entwined and two-headed snakes, a tribute to Chaac, their rain god. In the centre stands the recognizable Piramide del Adjvino (Pyramid of the Magician, also known as the Pyramid of the Dwarf), it dominates over the other buildings. An ancient Legend says, that it was built over night by an enchanted dwarf. Uxmal means “built in three stages”, referring to the many layers of construction of its most imposing structure. Besides the Magicians Pyramids, we are going to see Uxmal’s other main constructions: Palacio de los Gobernadores (Gevernors Palace) and the Cuadrangulo de las Monjas (Quadrangle of the Nuns).

Merida - Riviera Maya
This morning we are going to Ek Balam, translated to "Black Jaguar" from the Mayan language. This archaeological city had its greatest splendour between 700 and 1000 A.C. During our visit, you will appreciate the Central Square with its three ceremonial structures, the main pyramid (better known as the Tower), which is similar in size compared to the structures of Southeastern Yuacatan. Continue to Valladolid for lunch at a local restaurant and afterwards to Coba, for a visit of one of the most important Mayan ceremonial centers and explore one of the biggest pyramids that exists in the region. These ruins were explored in 1926 by Sylvanus G. Morley, Erick Thompson and H.D. Pollock. This place extends next to the lakes of Coba and Macanxoc. You will see the Castle, other pyramids and platforms of group Nohoch Mul, as well as the richly carved stelas which are sumptuously dressed with inscriptions and personages. Later we drive to the Riviera Maya and check-in at our All-Inclusive hotel.
